A car crashed into a utility pole on Union Road (Route 235) in Waldoboro shortly before 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 11.
The impact brought down the pole and detached wires from a nearby house. The woman who was driving the car was transported by ambulance to LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta for possible injuries, according to fire and police personnel.
The woman was driving south on Union Road when she crashed into the pole, according to Waldoboro Police Officer Thomas Bartunek. “It’s under investigation for OUI,” he said.
Union Road was closed to through traffic from Route 1 to Castner Road after the accident.
Lincoln County Communications paged Waldoboro Emergency Medical Services and Waldoboro Fire Department at 5:55 p.m. Central Maine Power Co. and the Waldoboro Police Department also responded to the scene.
