The dining room was full and customers waiting for food-to-go crowded the lobby on the opening night of Chen’s Village Chinese restaurant Oct. 9 in Waldoboro.
The new restaurant, located at Rt. 1 and Rt. 220, offers a full dinner menu and an all-you-eat lunch buffet seven-days a week.
The menu features selections with Szechuan, Hunan, Mandarin and Cantonese influences. Beer and wine are also available, and plans for a full cocktail menu are in the future, according to hostess Jian Ping Qian.
The Szechuan influenced dishes, such as Dragon and Phoenix (shrimp and chicken with vegetable), will offer diners a chance to savor the heat of Chinese spices. Of course, there are also milder choices such as Sesame Chicken and Gold Crispy Shrimp.
There are also combination choices offered for both lunch and dinner as well as family dinners that include an enticing combination of appetizers and entrees to be selected by the diner.
Classic American-Chinese menu items, such as Chop Suey, Chow Mein, and Egg Foo Young, will also be available along with a Health Food Section in the menu.
Chen’s Village Chinese restaurant opens at 11 a.m., seven days a week. The closing time for the restaurant Mon.-Thurs., is 9 p.m., and Fri.-Sat., at 9:30 p.m., with Sunday closing at 8:30 p.m. Contact Chen’s Village Restaurant at 832-6888.
