Chives is a new bistro and coffeehouse on 212 Main Street, Damariscotta, that’s now open for business.
Why the name “Chives?” “Because chives are beautiful, fresh, delicate and versatile, like our menu,” said Nora Reed.
John Reed, chef and owner of Chives, brings 30 years of restaurant experience to the fun and friendly international bistro.
Reed has designed a menu that features eclectic American cuisine with French and Spanish influences, blending exotic and traditional flavors. He offers daily dinner specials such as roast tenderloin with medjol date crust and ginger, with candied garlic beef jus.
Chives is a truly inter-generational affair; Reed’s wife, Nora, daughters Lorena and Melissa, and nephew Aaron are involved in daily operations.
John Reed is still finessing the hours of operation but expects to be open for breakfast Tues.-Thurs., 7-11 a.m., and Fri.-Sun., 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The bistro will be open for dinner Tues.-Sun., 5:30-9 p.m., and closed on Mondays.
Please call the restaurant at 563-1150 to check on hours of operation and/or to make dinner reservations.
