Put on one’s finest dress, and join everyone for the 10th Annual Chocolate Fest & Silent Auction to benefit Healthy Kids.
Mingle and bid on beautiful silent auction items while enjoying fine chocolate, savory hors d’oeuvres, bubbling champagne, and live music by international pianist Bernie Watson.
Midcoast Maine’s finest restaurants, bakeries, and chocolatiers will create a range of decadent chocolate desserts to suit all tastes, including handmade artisan truffles from Black Dinah Chocolatiers of Isle au Haut.
The Damariscotta River Grill will cater with hors d’oeuvres. Chocolate Fest is generously sponsored by Bath Savings Institution and will take place Sat., Feb. 5, from 7-9 p.m. at the lovely Lincoln Home in Newcastle.
Everyone is sure to find something they love within the wide variety of silent auction items donated by local artisans and businesses, so come ready to open one’s pocketbook in support of Lincoln County’s children and families.
This is a great opportunity to purchase a very special Valentine’s Day gift for the loved ones. While there are highly desirable items available at all price points, the most noteworthy auction piece is a gorgeous 14K white gold necklace with white and blue diamonds valued at $1000 which was generously donated by Stars Fine Jewelry.
A black NS WAV 4 electric violin valued at $749 will also be available, compliments of famed instrument designer Ned Steinberger. Several weekend getaways at private vacation residences, autographed original Woodstock tickets, family memberships to local points of interest, artwork, and gift certificates to many local businesses will also be available for bidding.
Auction bids greater than the retail value of an item are tax-deductible. All proceeds from the silent auction, sponsor donations, and ticket sales benefit Healthy Kids programs for the coming year.
Now in its 10th year, Chocolate Fest began as a way to raise money for child abuse prevention and continues to be Healthy Kids’ most successful fundraiser. Healthy Kids’ mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect in Lincoln County and to encourage, support and promote healthy family environments.
Last year Chocolate Fest raised over $23,000 to benefit Healthy Kids and was attended by over 175 patrons. The proceeds from Chocolate Fest are essential for Healthy Kids to continue providing local families with home visits, support groups, workshops, playgroups, and family resources; Healthy Kids receives no state or federal funding.
There will be several exciting changes to Chocolate Fest this year, including the introduction of heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by the Damariscotta River Grill and its move to The Lincoln Home.
This luxurious venue is beautifully situated on the Damariscotta River and its spacious, well-appointed rooms will easily accommodate the large crowd expected to attend.
Carol Ransom of the Lincoln Home said, “The Lincoln Home is looking forward to hosting this year’s Chocolate Fest for Healthy Kids. This annual event raises funds to provide a number of programs that enhance the lives of children and families within Lincoln County.
“The Lincoln Home’s mission is to enhance the lives of the elderly and in doing so, we interact with school children throughout the year. We wish to do all we can to help families remain strong and successful.”
