CLC YMCA board president Dennis Anderson announced on Tuesday that Chief Executive Officer Craig Wilson has submitted his resignation, effective immediately. Anderson did not cite a reason for the sudden resignation, and issued the following statement:
“Mr. Wilson has served as the CEO for the past 10 years. During that time his leadership has contributed significantly toward expansion of membership and programming, the establishment of a branch office in Waldoboro, the initiation of a capital campaign for an aquatic center and a strong sense of fiscal responsibility.
“The Board of Directors will engage the services of an interim CEO to ensure a smooth transition while conducting a national search to identify and select a new, permanent leader for the organization.
“Craig has been a stable guiding force, negotiating our Y through some challenging fiscal times. He has been a strong community leader and a tireless, dedicated YMCA advocate. His initiative and direction will be sorely missed. On behalf of the entire board, we thank Craig for his 10 years of dedicated service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Wilson could not be reached by phone before the newspaper deadline, and did not return phone messages. Anderson did not return phone messages.
“He has moved on to another opportunity with the Y” system, a CLC YMCA employee said.
