Damariscotta’s Colby & Gale Inc. plans to expand the propane storage capacity at its 154 Biscay Rd. headquarters due to growing demand for the fuel.
The business plans to add a 30,000-gallon propane tank to the 30,000- and 18,000-gallon tanks already on site. The addition will expand total capacity from 48,000 to 78,000 gallons.
The Damariscotta Planning Board unanimously approved the application for the project Monday, May 4.
Maine Energy Inc. will complete the project, according to Colby & Gale Inc. President Robert Clifford. The firm will start work in early August and finish in early September.
The project includes the installation of the tank, safety enhancements, and other upgrades.
