As of Jan. 12, Damariscotta has one more business in town.
Computer Chip, a computer business, opened in the Farrin Properties building at 752 Main St. in Damariscotta Jan. 12.
“I do repairs, upgrades, you name it,” Chip Webber said, handing The Lincoln County News his business card that lists his computer services – repairs, upgrades, virus removal, configuring hand-held devices, websites, and databases.
Webber, 52, of Jefferson, was recently laid off from his job at Midcoast Internet, where he was a DSL coordinator and technical support specialist.
He decided to follow trends in the job market and start his own business.
“I worked with Midcoast Internet for almost 10 years,” Webber said. “I’m excited to work for myself for a change.”
A Lincoln Academy graduate, Webber graduated from Andover College in Portland with a degree in computer science in 1991.
Because Computer Chip is a brand new business, Webber doesn’t plan on hiring anyone new for a little while.
Webber said he’s in the process of figuring out the hours he will be in the office. “Anyone is welcome to call or stop in,” Webber said.
Computer Chip’s phone number is 975-2409.
