Construction on the new South Bristol salt and sand shed on Old Barn Road in Walpole is underway.
The previous salt and sand shed collapsed on Feb. 13 under several feet of snow. The building was nearly 30 years old.
Rubb Inc. is building the new shed. Construction began on Aug. 3 and is expected to be finished by mid-August, according to South Bristol Selectman Chester Rice.
“Everything is going according to schedule,” Rice said.
The building is projected to stand longer than its predecessor.
“The structure is galvanized,” Rice said. “It may need to be re-covered in 30 or 40 years, but it will last much longer than that.”
