A rollover accident on Route 97 in Cushing the night of Nov. 11 sent three young men, including one from Edgecomb, to Penobscot Bay Medical Center for injuries, according to a press release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responding to the report of the rollover at about 8 p.m. found a 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck had rolled multiple times and taken out a telephone pole.
Joseph Dinapoli, 25, of Cushing, was the operator of the vehicle and said he lost control of the vehicle on a curve when a deer ran out in front of him and he attempted to avoid it, according to the release. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
Dinapoli and his two passengers, Ryan McGlauflin, 21, of Edgecomb, and Maxwell Hodgkins, 22, of Bath, were all taken by ambulance to Penobscot Bay Medical Center.
Dinapoli was released shortly after arrival, according to the release, but status on the other two men was not available by press time.
The KCSO is forensically mapping the crash, and the Maine State Police is performing a reconstruction, according to the release.
The Cushing Fire Department assisted at the scene and medical professionals from Cushing, Warren, and Thomaston provided care and transport.
