The Damariscotta Planning Board recently approved a site plan application for an antique and pawn shop to open in a vacant building on Main Street.
Newcastle resident Mark Hoffman plans to open the business at 441 Main St., most recently home to the Lincoln County Republican Committee.
The Republicans set up headquarters in the building during the 2012 campaign. The art gallery Rubel Studio previously occupied the building.
Damariscotta attorney Richard Salewski owns the building.
Hoffman told the planning board he will focus on antiques and already has a large inventory of items to sell, according to the recording secretary for the board.
