Down East magazine’s April 2015 cover story names Van Lloyd’s Bistro in Damariscotta one of “Maine’s Best New Restaurants.”
“This father-son-daughter-in-law operation embraces a from-scratch philosophy and global influences: the daily house-made sausage might be Italian; the house-made pasta could appear in an Indian-influenced tikka lasagna (with house-made ricotta),” the magazine says.
The magazine calls Van Lloyd’s a “cozy, unexpected find on the Damariscotta waterfront” and names its eclectic and ever-changing menu as the “best reason to go.”
This constant change was part of the plan from the beginning.
“Everything will be constantly in flux, not by mistake and not because we’re indecisive, but because we like change, by design,” co-owner August DeLisle told The Lincoln County News before the mid-June 2014 opening.
The restaurant reopened Tuesday, March 31 after closing for a month. New additions include a full bar and cocktail menu.
Van Lloyd’s occupies the 85 Parking Lot Lane space formerly home to The Bakery and Oliver’s Print Shop, among other endeavors. The space was renovated and redesigned prior to the restaurant’s opening.
Bernie DeLisle and his son and daughter-in-law, August DeLisle and Torie Van Horne, own and run the restaurant.
Van Lloyd’s Bistro opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. For more information, call 563-5005 or visit http://vanlloydsbistro.com or www.facebook.com/vanlloyds.
