Damariscotta voters re-elected three incumbents, returned a former selectman to office, and validated the 2015-2016 education budgets Tuesday, June 9.
Selectman Robin Mayer, Damariscotta School Committee and Great Salt Bay School Committee member Brent Hallowell, and Great Salt Bay Sanitary District Trustee William Brewer received 102, 35, and 128 votes, respectively, to win three-year terms.
Hallowell was a write-in candidate due to an issue with his nomination paperwork.
Former Selectman Josh Pinkham will return to the board for a one-year term to fill a vacancy left by David Atwater’s resignation April 1. Pinkham received 114 votes.
Residents voted to approve the Great Salt Bay Consolidated School District budget and Damariscotta secondary education budget 91-54 and 84-60, respectively. Damariscotta voters already approved those budgets at open meetings May 13 and 28, respectively.
The Great Salt Bay Consolidated School District budget totals $5,588,196, an increase of $80,143 or 1.46 percent. Damariscotta’s share of the budget totals $2,168,343, a decrease of $69,685 or 3.11 percent due to a decrease in the town’s share of enrollment.
The Damariscotta secondary education budget totals $1,713,896, an increase of $444,092 or 34.97 percent.
