Damariscotta North LLC has purchased the Spencer’s Greenery property at 49 Center St. in Damariscotta from Eola Ball and Edsel Spencer as of Dec. 17.
The property was purchased with the intent to find a tenant who will continue to use it for the same purpose, said Mason Sears, manager of Damariscotta North LLC.
“Our goal is to continue to have the business operate in a way (that will) utilize the greenhouse facilities,” Sears said. The company is interested in talking with people who may want to lease or rent the facility year-round.
“The location has over 7,000 square feet of just greenhouse space, and some of it’s heated,” Sears said. The 2.06-acre property also has a small store.
Damariscotta North LLC owns another commercial property in Damariscotta – the Hodgdon Custom Tenders facility at 6 Angell Lane, a neighbor to Spencer’s Greenery.
Spencer’s Greenery was open this past season, although the business had scaled back operations from previous years, according to Damariscotta Assessors’ Agent Jurate Barnes. The business has always closed for the winters, she said.
