Damariscotta wants “everyone who has an interest in the future of Damariscotta’s historic downtown” to fill out a 10-question online survey about potential waterfront improvements.
The town wants to hear from full- and part-time Damariscotta residents, the business community, residents of nearby towns, and regular visitors, according to a May 1 mass email from Town Manager Matt Lutkus. The town also wants to hear a second time from respondents to a February survey.
The online survey asks questions about whether to include a boardwalk, pedestrian walkways, public restrooms, or a sea wall in a waterfront improvement project; whether to build a pedestrian walkway or wharf over Misery Gulch; and whether to pursue more parking spaces through agreements with or purchases from nearby landowners.
“The Damariscotta Waterfront Committee has been working for many months to identify the various improvements that could be included in a waterfront project,” Lutkus said in the email. The town plans to hold meetings about the waterfront this spring and summer.
