Stephen Hanna, 27, of Damariscotta, is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center after a single-vehicle accident on Turner Road in Bremen March 22.
The truck Hanna was driving hit a large tree at a high rate of speed and rolled over, ejecting Hanna.
A resident of Turner Road called 911 at 7:28 p.m.
LifeFlight, the air rescue service, transported Hanna to Maine Medical Center by helicopter.
Hanna was traveling south on Turner Road in a 1996 Ford F-150 “at a high speed,” according to a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office press release.
“As the Hanna vehicle entered a right curve, the vehicle crossed the opposing travel lane and left the roadway,” according to LCSO. “The vehicle struck a large tree and rolled over before coming to rest on its side. As the vehicle rolled, Mr. Hanna was ejected from within.”
“Speed is considered a factor in this crash and investigators will examine the possibility of alcohol involvement,” according to LCSO. “Mr. Hanna was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.”
“Deputy Matthew Day is the primary investigating officer and was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Daniel Sceviour,” according to LCSO. “A reconstruction is being conducted by Crash Reconstruction Specialist Sgt. Jason Nein.”
The Bremen Fire Department, Bremen First Responders and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
