Damariscotta Planning Board Chairman Fred Sewall will resign from the board effective Monday, June 2.
“It has been an honor and privilege to have served my community for the past 27 years,” Sewall said in an April 3 letter to Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus. “I would be happy to assist the board with any questions or issues in the future.”
Sewall, an electrician, has been on the planning board since 1987. He also sits on the Damariscotta Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
“It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter,” Sewall said. “I have enjoyed working with all involved and the many ‘interesting’ and challenging issues.”
Lutkus said Damariscotta residents owe Sewall “a huge debt of gratitude” for his service to the town.
The Damariscotta Board of Selectmen accepted his resignation April 16.
Chairman Josh Pinkham thanked Sewall for his service. “You have been a loyal citizen for the town of Damariscotta,” Pinkham said.
