Brandon Trank, 28, of Damariscotta, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing two men in Damariscotta’s municipal parking lot early March 10.
LifeFlight transported one victim to Maine Medical Center; another followed by ambulance. Both were listed in stable condition as of March 10, according to a Damariscotta Police Dept. press release.
Damariscotta Police Officer Aaron Beck arrested Trank in the municipal parking lot.
Damariscotta Police Chief Chad Andrews and Deputy Justin Drake, Deputy Scott Hayden and Sgt. Brendan Kane, all of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, also responded to the scene.
The police believe a dispute about a personal matter escalated into a physical altercation between four men, Andrews said. Trank didn’t appear to be a party to the initial dispute. He was a passenger in a vehicle belonging to one of the men involved.
Trank became involved in the physical altercation, however, and allegedly stabbed the men around 3 a.m. and fled the scene.
As of March 13, Trank remains at Two Bridges Regional Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
Andrews, expressing concern about the possibility of a retaliatory incident, issued a call to the community for calm and restraint.
