Brandon Trank, 28, of Damariscotta, faces a felony charge of aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing two men in Damariscotta’s municipal parking lot early March 10.
Both victims were initially transported by ambulance to Miles Memorial Hospital. One victim was later transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center and the second victim was transferred to the same location by ambulance.
Both stabbing victims are listed in stable condition, according to a Damariscotta Police Department press release.
Damariscotta Police officer Aaron Beck arrested Trank in the municipal parking lot.
Damariscotta Police Chief Chad Andrews and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies Justin Drake, Scott Hayden and Sgt. Brendan Kane also responded to the scene.
The police believe a dispute about a personal matter escalated into a physical altercation between four men, Chief Andrews said. Trank didn’t appear to be a party to the initial dispute, he was a passenger in a vehicle belonging to one of the men involved, according to police.
Trank became involved in the physical altercation, however, and allegedly stabbed the men around 3 a.m. and fled the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
