Ryan Chubbuck of Woolwich, a corrections officer at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset, has joined the Damariscotta Police Department as a reserve patrol officer.
Chubbuck, 24, was at the jail for four years, where he worked alongside Damariscotta Officers Jason Warlick and Devin Polizzotti.
He completed the 100-hour Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program in 2011. He started work in Damariscotta Oct. 3 and will complete 1 to 2 months of on-the-job training in Damariscotta with Warlick as his field training officer.
Chubbuck said he has always wanted to be able to help people and prevent crime and would like to become a full-time police officer.
“I like the department, I like the guys who work here, and I’d like to turn it into full time,” Chubbuck said. “I’m happy to be here and I want to thank the chief for giving me an opportunity.”
