A 20-year-old Damariscotta man was arrested early Sunday morning and a dozen others were detained following complaints of a loud drunken party.
A 14-year-old girl, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized after she was found passed out, police said.
Chief Steven Drake said Theodore C. McDonald, in first block of Water St., was jailed for violating conditions of his release. McDonald was the host of the event, Drake said. He was out on bail on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor, Drake said.
“Officer Aaron Beck was on patrol Saturday night when a girl stopped him and told him about a wild party,” Drake said.
After alerting other Damariscotta police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, police raided the party.
When police arrived, some of the partygoers scattered and one climbed out a second story window and was on the roof. He had to be coaxed back inside the home. In the basement, law officers found the 14-year-old girl passed out and lying in her own waste.
“She was unconscious and unresponsive so we called the ambulance and sent her to Miles Memorial Hospital,” Drake said.
Ages of the party attendees ranged from 14 to 21. Most were Knox county residents reporting addresses in Thomaston, Warren, Friendship, and Rockland.
Drake said those detained were released in the custody of their parents.
Police confiscated a quantity of vodka, wine, and other liquor.
“Basically, they brought whatever they could take from their folk’s liquor closet,” said Drake.
“We take these complaints very seriously and will prosecute persons for furnishing a place for minors to drink,” he said.
