The Damariscotta Police Dept. would like to remind downtown residents that the Winter Parking Ban went into effect on Nov. 15. Damariscotta Police responded to 132 calls including motor vehicle stops, arrests, calls for service, etc. during this one week period of time and reports the following activity.
Nov. 9, Officer Adam Lewis, along with Lincoln County Deputies responded to a complaint of an unwanted person. Officer Adam Lewis conducted a compliance check in on a bailee and conducted an escort for a local bank. Officer Richard Alexander conducted a compliance check in on a bailee; took a report of lost property; responded to a report of an erratic operation. Officers Alexander and Mitkus responded to a local residence to conduct a welfare check on an individual after receiving a call from a friend who was very concerned. Officer Andrew Beck conducted a property check.
Nov. 10, Officer Mitkus conducted numerous property checks at businesses in town; Officer Beck assisted a citizen with information about a trespass order. Chief Chad Andrews assisted a citizen with information about a protection from abuse order. Officer Beck conducted compliance check ins on bailees; responded to a report of an erratic operation and, with Chief Andrews, responded to a burglar alarm at a local business.
Nov. 12, Officer Jennifer Mitkus conducted a compliance check in on a bailee; assisted a citizen with getting help as she had locked herself out of her vehicle with two small children inside the car; responded to a local business on a report of a disabled motor vehicle. Officer Beck conducted a compliance check in on a bailee and conducted a pedestrian check on a subject.
Nov. 13, Officer Adam Lewis took a report of suspicious activity in which a person was calling another person on a cell phone and asking for help. The subject was eventually located at a residence in Brunswick. Lewis also conducted a compliance check in on a bailee. Officer Beck responded to a local residence on a report that a subject had fallen and needed help.
Nov. 14, Chief Chad Andrews took a complaint of harassment. Officer Lewis responded to a burglar alarm at a local business; conducted a welfare check on a juvenile at the request of Great Salt Bay School, and conducted two compliance check ins on bailees. Officer Neil Genthner took a complaint from a local citizen of a possible scam. Officer Mitkus conducted numerous property checks at businesses in town and conducted a pedestrian check on an individual.
Nov. 14, Officer Neil Genthner responded to Egypt Road for a two vehicle accident involving Nuel Crawford, 66 of Round Pond who was operating a 2007 Dodge and Christine L. Gove, 43 of Damariscotta who was operating a 2004 Jeep. Gove was parked facing West on the left hand side of the roadway retrieving her mail. Crawford was traveling East. He saw the headlights and thought Gove was in his lane. Crawford drove to the right of the headlights and left the roadway after hitting Gove’s vehicle and several mailboxes.
Nov. 10, Karen McCubbin, 59 of Bristol was arrested for operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor and summonsed for speeding.
Nov. 12, Shayne Reichard, 31 of Jefferson was arrested for domestic violence assault.
