The Damariscotta Board of Selectmen, at its Dec. 7 meeting, voted unanimously to disband the Damariscotta Planning and Advisory Committee (DPAC) effective immediately.
Damariscotta interim Town Manager Don Gerrish said DPAC has completed its original charge.
David Atwater, the chairman of the Board of Selectmen and a former DPAC chairman, thanked the committee members for their work.
Gerrish said he’d bring a recommendation for “another type of committee or charge” to the board’s Dec. 21 meeting. The new committee will, like DPAC, assist the town with public outreach, he said.
The new committee will likely consist of Damariscotta residents only, unlike DPAC, which included residents of neighboring towns, Atwater said after the meeting.
