Damariscotta Town Manager Matt Lutkus will remain in the post through 2016 after the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen approved a new, two-year contract with Lutkus Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Lutkus started work in Damariscotta in January 2012. His initial contract was for three-year at $80,000 per year. The new contract includes a one-time 5 percent salary increase to $84,000.
The contract also includes a decrease in annual sick days from 12 to eight and an increase in vacation days from 20 to 25.
The contract provides for Lutkus and the selectmen to renegotiate and renew the contract on a year-to-year basis after it expires.
A communication from Lutkus to the selectmen lists several highlights of his three years in office, including the acquisition of grant funds for a recent project in the Church Street neighborhood and the pump-out station for the harbor, the development of a five-year capital improvement plan, and an increase in portfolio earnings as a result of a change in investment strategy.
