The trial of Brandon B. Trank, who allegedly stabbed two other men in the Damariscotta municipal parking lot March 10, will start Thursday, Oct. 11.
Trank, 29, formerly of Damariscotta, faces two Class A counts of elevated aggravated assault, both felonies.
Assistant District Attorney Jonathan Liberman will prosecute the case for the state; Waldoboro attorney Philip Cohen will represent Trank.
Lincoln County Superior Court has set aside two days for the trial, a court clerk said.
The police believe a dispute about a personal matter escalated into a physical altercation between four men, Damariscotta Police Chief Chad Andrews said the day of the stabbing.
Trank did not appear to be a party to the initial dispute. He was a passenger in a vehicle belonging to one of the men involved.
He did become involved in the physical altercation, however, and allegedly stabbed the men around 3 a.m. and fled the scene. He was arrested shortly thereafter by Damariscotta Police Officer Aaron Beck.
Trank has been at Two Bridges Regional Jail since the incident. His bail was set at $10,000 cash.
