A Damariscotta woman will serve a year of probation after pleading guilty Aug. 4 to assaulting another woman outside a Wiscasset bar in March.
The victim of the assault told police Robbins hit her in the face with a Budweiser bottle.
Jade E. Robbins, 24, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in Lincoln County Superior Court in Wiscasset. She was sentenced to 364 days in jail, all suspended, with a year of probation and a $300 fine. Robbins’ probation conditions prohibit contact with the victim.
Robbins and the other woman were at the bar of the Schooner Inn in the early hours of Sunday, March 30, according to a statement by Patrolman Paul Rubashkin, of the Wiscasset Police Department.
The other woman told Rubashkin that Robbins “followed her from the bar out to her vehicle and started punching her,” Rubashkin said. Robbins then “hit her with a Budweiser beer bottle across the left cheek.”
Robbins told The Lincoln County News she punched the victim in the face. She denied striking her with a beer bottle.
The alleged victim had “obvious injuries” to her left cheek and told Rubashkin “she believed she lost consciousness for a moment” during the assault. She drove herself to the Miles campus of LincolnHealth in Damariscotta after the incident.
Robbins allegedly told the woman “she ruined her family’s life by filing a domestic violence charge” against Robbins’ brother.
The state later dismissed the charge against the brother. The court cites “witness unavailable” as the reason for the dismissal.
Rubashkin and Patrolman Perry Hatch arrested Robbins at Schooner Inn the afternoon of March 30.
A Lincoln County grand jury indicted Robbins on May 6 on charges of class A elevated aggravated assault and class B tampering with a victim.
A class A charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine; a class B charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.
The state dismissed those charges in exchange for Robbins’ guilty plea to class D assault, a misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
