A local woman won the August #LCNme365 photo contest by six votes with her picture of a cloud formation in Damariscotta.
Lacey Fuller, of Damariscotta, snapped the photograph with her iPhone from the parking lot of the Miles Memorial Hospital League Thrift Shop in early August. An avid reader of both the print and online editions of The Lincoln County News, Fuller was familiar with the #LCNme365 reader photo contest and added the hashtag to the photo’s caption on Instagram.
“(The photo contest) is all over the place, so I’m always checking in, voting, and keeping an eye on it,” Fuller said. “I don’t typically have a photo to throw in there, but this one spoke for itself.”
Fuller posted the photo on the Instagram page for Maine Septic Solution, a company she co-owns with her partner, Matt Page. When it came time to vote for the monthly contest, Fuller shared the photo on the business’s Facebook and Instagram pages as well as her personal page.
“It’s very exciting!” Fuller said when she learned she won the photo contest. “Having it printed on the front page of the paper is just awesome.”
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Fuller will receive a $50 gift certificate from August’s contest sponsor, the Newcastle Publick House, of Newcastle.
As the eighth monthly winner, Fuller cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2018, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Fuller’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2018.
Submissions are now being accepted for the September #LCNme365 contest. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to a local business from the monthly sponsor, Farrin Properties, of Damariscotta. For full rules and means of entry, go to lcnme.com/photo-contest.
