Maria Genthner, of Damariscotta, won the May #LCNme365 photo contest with her picture of Honeymoon Island on Pemaquid Pond at sunrise. Genthner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Metcalf’s Submarine Sandwiches, of Damariscotta, the sponsor of the May contest.
A “quick snap” with her iPhone of an early morning on Pemaquid Pond won Maria Genthner the May #LCNme365 photo contest.
Genthner, of Damariscotta, snapped the photo of Honeymoon Island in early May. “We have a lot of pretty sunrises here and this was one my husband said, ‘You ought to take a photo,’” Genthner said.

Genthner posted the photo on her Facebook page that morning. She received numerous comments on the picture’s beauty, and a friend suggested she enter it in the #LCNme365 photo contest.
When she found out she won the monthly contest, Genthner said she was both surprised and happy. “I never win anything, so this was really nice!” she said.
In addition to having her photo featured on the front page of The Lincoln County News, Genthner will receive a $50 gift certificate from May’s contest sponsor, Metcalf’s Submarine Sandwiches, of Damariscotta.
As the fifth monthly winner, Genthner cannot win another weekly or monthly contest in 2018, but she can still submit photos for inclusion in the weekly slideshow of entries at lcnme.com.
Genthner’s photo will compete against the other 11 monthly winners at the end of the year as voters select the winner for 2018.
