Two Lincoln County residents, accused of selling Oxycodone pills, were arrested in Rockland this morning by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to a press release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
MDEA agents allege Andrew Goupil, 33, of Wiscasset, and Joseph Dupaw, 68, of Dresden, have been selling hundreds of the pills in both Lincoln and Knox counties for several months, according to the release.
Two-hundred pills along with $1550 were seized as part of the arrest with a street value of about $7000, said MDEA Supervisor James Pease, according to the release.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and the Rockland Police Department assisted the MDEA in the 10:30 a.m. arrest. Goupil and Dupaw were arrested as they were about to board the ferry for Vinalhaven, according to the release.
In addition to the LCSO and Rockland police, the Wiscasset Police Department and Knox County Sheriff’s Office were also a part of the investigation, which has been on-going for several months, according to the release.
Both the LCSO and Wiscasset Police Department shared information with the MDEA, Pease said in a telephone conversation.
“Basically they were involved in the investigation right from the start,” Pease said. “They shared lots about these two dealing drugs. Both these guys are very well known to Wiscasset PD and LCSO.”
“These guys were both dealing enough drugs around that several police departments had knowledge,” Pease said.
According to the release, Goupil was charged with aggravated trafficking and has two prior drug convictions. Dupaw is charged with trafficking and violating bail conditions from a recent arrest in Lincoln County. Both are being held at the Knox County Jail.
Dupaw was arrested by the Wiscasset Police Department on Dec. 23 for aggravated criminal trespass, aggravated assault, obstructing report of a crime, and criminal threatening.
Goupil was convicted in Lincoln County Superior Court of unlawful possession of a scheduled drug in 2007.
“There will be more charges based on our investigation at some point, on these two,” Pease said.
