The Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency and area emergency service agencies will be participating in disaster exercises during the week of Nov. 4-8. These exercises are part of a national program called Vigilant Guard.
Vigilant Guard is sponsored by US Northern Command in conjunction with the National Guard Bureau. The program provides an opportunity for State National Guard Headquarters, State Joint Task Forces and field units to improve command and control and operational relationships and interoperability with civilian partners.
Lincoln County’s portion of Vigilant Guard will take place in the evening hours on Thursday, Nov. 7 in the area of the Wiscasset Community Center on Gardiner Road Several local and state agencies will be participating.
During this time, commuters should be prepared for traffic congestion around the drill area. Also, residents should note that there will be an increase in emergency vehicle traffic in the area and should not be alarmed by this mock disaster drill.
Any further questions should be directed to the Lincoln County Office of Emergency Management at 882-7559.
