Damariscotta, after interviews with a trio of finalists June 18, has “discussions underway” with a single candidate for police chief, Town Manager Matt Lutkus said.
Lutkus plans to meet with the candidate, a New Hampshire resident, the week of June 24 and make an announcement June 27.
Lutkus updated the Damariscotta Board of Selectmen about the process in a closed-door session June 19.
Lutkus has previously said the town would make a job offer, contingent on a background check and psychological exam, within a few days of the interviews. The new chief would then start work as soon as July or August.
