The Department of Transportation is planning a temporary measure to raise the grade of a flood-prone section of East Pond Road in Nobleboro by paving it, according to
Andrea Glidden.
Glidden, one of the operations managers for DOT’s Region 2, said the department finished up the installation of four drains under the road Sept. 29, and
paving along that section is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 2.
The section in question is located along a low-lying area between Route 1 and the train tracks, and the Nobleboro Board of Selectmen met with Region 2
Manager Mike Burns in August to discuss its issues.
During the meeting, Burns committed to doing something with the road before the end of paving season.
“This is a temporary plan that we are working on. We put in four drains across the road, and then we’ll be raising the grade of the road,” Glidden said.
During the paving operations, the road will be down to one lane with alternating traffic, Glidden said.
