The Dept. of Transportation is going to install a blinking light at the perilous intersection of Patterson (Rt. 197) and River (Rt. 128) roads in Dresden, town officials said.
A 21-year-old woman died in a two-car accident at the intersection March 19. It was the second fatal crash at the intersection in the last five years.
The state agency will bear the initial cost of about $25,000, Dresden Selectman David Probert said. “Dresden will pay the electricity and the maintenance,” he said.
Probert hailed the impending arrival of the overhead light as the result of a “cooperative effort with local politicians and DOT.”
The intersection currently features temporary blinking lights on stop signs.
