Dresden Take Out celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, June 28. The event was very busy, as several lucky motorists were able to buy 20 gallons of gas for $1.99 a gallon and the country music station 99.9 The Wolf broadcast live from Greg’s Used Cars & Service.
Dresden Take Out and Greg’s Used Cars & Service owner Greg Lamar said he met people that had never come into his business before. The grand opening and the soft opening on June 20 were very successful, he said.
The store has been busy since it opened, even busier than he and his staff predicted it would be, Lamar said. The store was busy one day “to the point the help was overwhelmed (and) I wasn’t sure if they would be coming back to work the next day,” he said with a chuckle.
Lamar bought the store at auction on Dec. 10, 2013 for $43,000 and has invested about $200,000 to refurbish the building and stock the store. The store features new appliances and new tables and chairs where customers can enjoy a cup of coffee and a quick lunch.
Dresden Take Out offers a large menu of deli sandwiches, hot sandwiches, fries, pizza, and much more. The store also sells gasoline and kerosene and will sell diesel fuel during the summer months.
Lamar has hired Paula Beckett to manage the store, with four other full-time employees at the present time. Dresden Take Out is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Thursday; 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
