Nina L. Drage, 76, of Dresden, was pronounced dead shortly her rescue from a stream near her East Pittston Road home Oct. 26.
According to Lt. Mike Murphy of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Drage went out for a walk and she fell down a steep embankment into a stream.
The Dresden Fire Dept. assisted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at the scene. The cause of the fall is undetermined at this time.
According to Dresden resident Kathryn Erskine, who arrived at the scene shortly after 10 p.m., first responders had trouble finding Drage’s pulse when she was removed from the stream.
According to Lt. Murphy, Drage was transported by ambulance to a LifeFlight helicopter that landed at the nearby Pine Grove Cemetery.
Drage was flown to Maine Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. As of press time, the Maine Medical Examiner was unable to determine the cause of death.
Drage was born in Panchevo, Yugoslavia in 1935. She came to the United States in 1960 from Argentina after enduring a difficult life in Yugoslavia, according to an obituary submitted by her family.
Drage moved to Dresden in 1973, where she started a farm and served as a caregiver for local organizations.
Drage is survived by her three children, two grandchildren, brother, and many nieces and nephews.
