The driver in a May 19 single-vehicle accident in Bristol fell asleep at the wheel, Maj. Ken Mason of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said.
Gordon Feltis, 19, was southbound on Rt. 130 near the Bristol/South Bristol Transfer Facility when, in his 2004 Chevy Trailblazer, he left the roadway, coming to rest in a cluster of trees in a roadside gully.
Feltis’ passenger, Gordon Blank, who is in his 90s, was transported to Maine Medical Center with possible back injuries, Mason said.
As of the afternoon of May 24, Blank remains at Maine Medical Center in “fair” condition, a hospital spokesperson said.
Bristol Fire and Rescue, the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service and LCSO responded to the scene.
