An East Boothbay woman has been sentenced to two years in prison and three years of probation for trafficking heroin in Boothbay Harbor last year.
Leslie A. Wedel, 45, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, pleaded guilty to class B unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and class E violation of condition of release.
She was sentenced Sept. 28 to five years in prison with three years suspended and three years of probation for the trafficking charge, with a concurrent 48-day sentence for the bail violation. She also has to pay $415 in fines.
Wedel’s probation conditions prohibit the possession or use of unlawful drugs and subject her to random searches and tests for the same. She must also complete substance-abuse treatment. If she violates probation, she could return to prison for up to three years.
In exchange for her plea, a charge of class A aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin) was reduced to the class B charge and charges of class C possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, class C unlawful possession of schedule W drug (heroin), and class E operating after suspension were dismissed.
Court documents reveal little about the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency investigation beyond the date of the trafficking offense, Oct. 30, 2014. Wedel has a prior conviction for trafficking drugs in Sagadahoc County in 2007.
The operating after suspension and violation of condition of release charges were the result of a second arrest on Jan. 23.
Wedel is in custody at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham, according to the Maine Department of Corrections.
