Seawicks Candle Company of Edgecomb plans to open a store in Damariscotta next month, according to an April 18 post on the company Facebook page.
The store will sell the company’s handmade candles, as well as furniture and gifts.
Edgecomb residents Michael and Cara Gaffney own the business and make the candles in a workshop next to their house, according to a September 2011 article in The Lincoln County News.
Seawicks makes its candles with soy wax, the product of soybeans from U.S. farms, according to its website. The company also sources other materials, including glass and tin, from the U.S.
The company donates 50 cents from every candle it sells to the Boothbay Region Land Trust.
Seawicks candles are available in dozens of retail locations across Maine and the U.S., one store in Canada and through the company website, http://www.seawicks.com.
The storefront, at 112 Main St., was most recently home to Darling and DeLisle, a shop specializing in handmade jewelry and accessories.
