This Christmas, five single mothers struggling to provide for their children will be given a holiday “they will never forget,” courtesy of Edgecomb developer Tony Casella.
Inspired by reports of the number of children who go to bed hungry every night in Maine and the struggles of single mothers who work full time yet still have trouble covering their bills, Casella is gearing up to spread some holiday cheer to local families in need.
Casella is currently organizing an event called Family Christmas, where five single mothers will be selected to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day at his Water’s Edge Banquet Facility in Edgecomb. The families Casella selects will be treated to a gourmet Christmas Eve dinner and, on Christmas Day, they will receive a visit from an extremely generous Santa Claus.
Casella will be holding open interviews Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Water’s Edge Banquet Facility to ensure that the neediest families benefit from the initiative.
“These families shouldn’t be suffering,” Casella said. “We can’t take care of the world, but we can at least take care of the people in our own backyard.”
