The Edgecomb planning board cleared the way for a final town vote to approve financing for a new fire station in a meeting Sept 30.
Town planner Jack French authored a motion to adopt amendments to the town’s land use ordinance, effectively clearing the last hurdle for the project before Edgecomb voters weigh in on the revised ordinance sometime in October.
The board’s meeting immediately followed a public hearing on the changes that brought little opposition from the audience in the packed basement room of the town hall.
Selectman Jack Sarmanian praised the planning board for its hard work and creative thinking during the public hearing held prior to the meeting saying, “It was a crucial phenomena” that brought the long awaited plan for a new fire station to fruition.
Selectmen are scheduled to set a date for the public vote in a meeting on Oct. 4.
