An elderly man was transported to the hospital for injuries after his car collided with a cement truck in Nobleboro Tuesday afternoon.
James Lewis of Nobleboro was driving his 1991 Pontiac Sunbird southbound on Center St. in Nobleboro when his car rammed under the back end of a cement truck. According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputy Henry Grenier, the accident was reported at 1:13 p.m.
Gordon Farrin of Alna was operating a 1981 Mac cement truck owned by Ferraiolo Construction. Farrin had stopped the cement truck and was backing into a construction site at the Montessori School.
According to Grenier, Farrin did not see Lewis’s car, approaching from behind the cement truck. Lewis told Grenier he did not see the truck backing up.
Farrin was reported to be uninjured, however Lewis was being treated for injuries sustained in the accident when Grenier arrived at the scene. Lewis was transported to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta for treatment.
Estimated damages include $500 to the cement truck and an estimated $3500 damage to the Pontiac.
