On May 4 Jeffrey Evangelos of Friendship was certified by the Maine Secretary of State’s Office as an Independent candidate for House District 49, comprising the Towns of Friendship, Warren, Union, and Cushing. Evangelos lived in Warren for 21 years and has resided in Friendship for the past 17 years.
He is a retired veteran public servant, having served as Warren’s Town Manager and as Business Administrator for MSAD #40.
“I’m running because I agree with Sen. Snowe – politics has become way too divisive in Washington and Augusta and running as an independent will send an important message. I have a long and effective record as a public official, a reputation as a fiscal conservative, excellent human relations skills, and progressive enough credentials on other issues to be able to compromise and govern effectively.”
