An inmate at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset has been hit with additional charges after he allegedly tried to convince witnesses to change their statements implicating him.
According to a statement from Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline, Daniel P. Colby Jr., 30, Wiscasset, has been charged with two counts of tampering with a victim, Class B felonies, and two counts of violation of conditions of release; Class D misdemeanors.
Colby is currently being held at the Two Bridges Regional Jail on $10,000 cash bail set by the Wiscasset District Court.
According to Cline, on June 21, Wiscasset police received a complaint from Scott Colby of Wiscasset. Scott Colby was one of two victims in a terrorizing complaint that resulted in the arrest of Colby Jr.
Colby Jr. was arraigned on the terrorizing charges and bail conditions were put into place to protect both Scott and Ralph Colby.
According to Cline, while Colby Jr. was incarcerated at the Two Bridges Regional Jail, he allegedly made telephone calls to his grandmother, during which he allegedly asked his grandmother to relay information to both Scott and Ralph Colby.
Colby Jr. allegedly told his grandmother Scott and Ralph Colby needed to change their statements so the charges against Daniel Colby Jr. would be dismissed. Colby Jr. allegedly went on to tell his grandmother that if he remains in jail all summer, he would kill both Scott and Ralph Colby once he got released.
