A fire claimed a Dodge Ram pickup on Cottage Point Road in Damariscotta the morning of Friday, Dec. 22, but quick thinking by firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby vehicle.
The Lincoln County Communications Center dispatched the Damariscotta Fire Department to a car fire at 137 Cottage Point Road in Damariscotta at 10:08 a.m.
The pickup was “fully involved” and the fire was producing heavy smoke when Damariscotta Fire Chief John Roberts arrived on scene, he said. Roberts began shoveling snow onto a nearby vehicle to prevent the fire from spreading as he waited for firefighters to arrive with a truck.
Once on scene, the firefighters quickly extinguished the pickup fire, Roberts said. The other vehicle sustained minor cosmetic damage.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, due to the amount of damage, Roberts said.
The Damariscotta Police Department also responded to the scene.
