A fire over the weekend caused minor damage to a Boothbay Harbor home at 169 Atlantic Ave.
According to Boothbay Harbor Assistant Fire Chief Nick Upham, firefighters from Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay, and Southport responded to a structure fire at 6 p.m. on Oct. 30.
Upon arriving at the scene, first responders observed flames showing from the chimney.
According to Upham, the fire unexpectedly reached the timbers around the chimney before it was put out.
“We were able to gain control of it quickly, “Upham said.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. According to Upham, the fire caused minor damage and the home’s owners were able to stay in the house after first responders left.
