A barn fire on West Hamlet Road in Newcastle destroyed the small barn and its contents Monday night, Nov. 3.
“Larry Genthner’s generator malfunctioned and the barn caught fire,” Newcastle Fire Chief Clayton Huntley said. “The entire barn is lost, as well as the tools inside. The back of the house has about $2,000 damage because of siding melting as well.”
“When we arrived on the scene, Larry was shoveling snow onto the fire, and it was fairly contained,” Huntley said.
There were no injuries, although Genthner was checked for smoke inhalation.
