A man had a narrow escape when the truck he was driving caught fire on Eddy Road in Edgecomb the morning of Friday, June 27.
The man was driving a 2007 Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck near 119 Eddy Road.
“He was driving the truck and smoke started coming out of the air vents in the dash, so he stopped the truck and was getting out of the truck, and as soon as he opened the door,
flames started coming out of the dash,” Edgecomb Fire Chief Roy Potter said.
The Edgecomb and Wiscasset fire departments responded to the scene.
“It was totally involved when the fire department arrived,” Potter said. The firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. Crews were on scene for about 40 minutes.
There were no injuries, but the fire destroyed the truck. Potter said he believes it was insured.
