Fire destroyed a double-wide mobile home in Boothbay the evening of Saturday, March 7. The occupants and their pets escaped.
Homeowner Paul Bourcet was transported by ambulance to the Miles Campus of LincolnHealth in Damariscotta. He was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
The fire originated in the living room, although the precise cause remains undetermined due to the extent of damage, Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office Sgt. Ken Grimes said. There is nothing to indicate the fire was anything other than an accident, he said.
Bourcet and Claudia Kinsey own the property at 86 Ryder Trail, according to town records. Ryder Trail is off Back Narrows Road. Kinsey reportedly helped Bourcet out of the home.
A garage next to the mobile home appeared undamaged.
Lincoln County Communications paged the Boothbay Fire Department at 5:31 p.m.
“It wasn’t very long (before firefighters arrived) because one of our firefighters lives not too far from there,” Boothbay Assistant Fire Chief John Barry said. “He was first on the scene and she was cooking then.”
The fire was already coming through the roof and windows, Barry said.
Firefighters cleared the scene at about 9:30 p.m., Barry said.
The Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, Newcastle, Southport, and Wiscasset fire departments assisted at the scene, along with the Boothbay Region Ambulance Service and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
