The state fire marshal’s office is continuing to investigate the Dec. 9 garage fire that killed a 69-year-old Bristol woman at her Oceanside Lane home.
Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland said “unusual circumstances” surrounding the fire are causing investigators to be “deliberate and cautious” in their work.
The chief medical examiner’s office has not released a cause of death for the fire victim, Lynn Ring.
John Ring, Lynn Ring’s husband, sustained burns to his hands. He was treated at Miles Memorial Hospital and released, a hospital spokesman said.
The fire was the second in two years at 16 Oceanside Lane. A March 9, 2011 fire, which also started in the garage, destroyed the Rings’ previous home and killed their cat.
John Ring credited his wife and a neighbor with saving his life during the 2011 fire. The couple later rebuilt a smaller home at the same property.
Bristol firefighters rescued several cats from the Dec. 9 fire, which destroyed the garage and a Mercedes Benz convertible and caused limited damage to the home.
