A special town meeting scheduled for Wed., Jan 23, 2013 will not take place, after Nobleboro Fire Chief Ryan Gallagher informed Board of Selectmen Chairman Dick Spear that a 1995 4-Guys fire truck the town hoped to purchase is no longer available.
The apparatus that was to replace the current Engine 1, a 1979 Ford Middlesex fire truck will instead go to a fire company that lost its equipment during Hurricane Sandy in late October.
Spear said he received a call from Gallagher, after the adjournment of the board’s Dec. 19 meeting, telling him the truck would not come to Nobleboro. He said the fire chief would continue to look for a truck to replace Engine 1.
“They don’t have anything lined up right now,” Spear said.
The next regular meeting of the Nobleboro Board of Selectmen is scheduled to begin at 4:30 on Tues., Jan 2, 2013. That meeting will be immediately followed by a meeting of the Fireworks Committee.
