A large crew of firefighters from Bristol and surrounding towns quickly extinguished a fire at a residence on Riverview Road the evening of May 28.
The occupants of the house were not injured. Two firefighters went to the hospital, one with minor smoke inhalation and one with minor injuries from a fall.
Bristol Fire Chief Paul Leeman Jr. said flames were visible from a first-floor window when firefighters arrived at the house in the Pemaquid Harbor area. Two rooms on the first floor sustained most of the damage. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The fire was reported between 6:30-6:45 p.m. and contained by 7:15 p.m., although firefighters remained at the scene to monitor the house and search for hot spots.
The Bremen, Damariscotta, Newcastle and South Bristol fire departments also responded to the scene, with the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office providing medical and traffic support.
